Green campus initiatives

Several green initiatives are made inside the campus.

Executed Demonstration Projects in Anna University

• Installed 10 kW Solar PV system in the open Terrace of IES building. (Sponsored by TEDA) – 2015 (Reduces electricity bill by Rs 7,000 every month).
  
  
• Installed 4 kW Solar PV operated water pumping system in the CWR field Lab by signing an MoU with Sun Edison company (System sponsored by Sun Edison) – 2015
  
  
• Installed Solar- Wind Hybrid system (total 4 kW) in the open terrace of IES building. (Utilizing Dept ST fund) – 2016.

 

Apart from the above executed projects, the following major projects are under pipeline,

• Installation of a biogas plant (1000 kg/day - kitchen food waste utilization) at CEG campus (Project worth of INR 30 Lakhs)
  
  
• Installation of Centralized Solar PV based street lighting system at CEG and MIT campus (Project worth of INR 1 Crore)
  
  
• Towards the establishment of Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Solar and Clean Energy Technologies under Tamil Nadu Vision 2023. (Target INR 400 crores through various schemes and funding bodies. initially a seed grant of Rs. 5.00 crores has been allocated for the construction of the building for the said CoE under TamilNadu 110 scheme)
